This post is slightly late (as we are actually now closer to 2019 than 2018 :p), but 2018 really started with a bang for us with the amazing wedding of Darren and Felicia! Arriving at Felicia’s house in the morning, we were greeted by a very warm and comforting English-décor home. We could instantly feel the love within the family. Not to forget also, the lovely garden that was so well-maintained by Felicia’s parents. It presented to us the perfect opportunity to grab some shots of the couple in a place that’s so meaningful to them. Beats all other parks in Singapore! 🙂
Something very unique about this wedding that we have never seen before was that the baker of the wedding cake was none other than Felicia’s mum! One of the questions that we usually ask our couples when we meet them for the first time is whether they would be having a real wedding cake. We always squeal with excitement when they say YES! It’s doubly meaningful if the cake is baked by your own family member! Having a real wedding cake is so rare nowadays, and we wish more couples would bring back this tradition.
Apparently, the tradition of a wedding cake goes back to Roman times when a cake of meal was crumbled over the bride’s head to provide good luck. The wedding cake symbolizes good fortune and fertility. It also brings good luck to everyone who eats it. It is also said that the wedding cake should be made with an abundance of good quality ingredients to symbolize a long-lasting, rich, and happy marriage. I found Awesome Memories Photography on Bridestory and bookmarked them in my mind as I was really drawn to their profiles and portfolios. On the same night, Michelle reached out to me via email – what a sign! Extremely glad we went with them as they’re a lovely couple with a nice touch to their services. We really appreciated how they took time to get to know us, and share about themselves as well; and they even gave us some really important tips on scheduling for the wedding. They work as a pair and I think it was a real plus to have them both on the day as they managed to capture a nice variety of shots of us, our guests, and details. True to form, they produced really beautiful pictures and I’ve had many friends comment on how nice they are! Would definitely recommend this couple! Thank you Alvin and Michelle for your amazing work! 🙂
