Depending on which culture/tradition you follow, baby shower parties can be to celebrate either the upcoming or recent birth of a child. Alvin and I have always been either attending or shooting baby shower parties of local Chinese couples where such parties take place when the baby is one month old. For the Indian culture, baby shower parties are held before the baby is born. It was a new, yet interesting, experience for us, and this was also why we were excited about the photoshoot as a celebration for Manish and Divya at Chinese Swimming Club!
Following the Indian tradition, the expectant mother’s close friends would present gifts to her while whispering words of blessings into her ears. The party was well planned by Divya’s close friends, as they came up with a few games to keep the guests entertained. There was a Bingo-inspired game, a plasticine-making game, painting of a toddler’s t-shirt, and charades! It was a night of fun, and I’m sure Manish and Divya and their guests had a great time as well.
Those who have been following our Facebook and blog would know that we have been working with Rosette Designs for some time on weddings. They have since launched a new brand called Little Precious, which focuses on birthdays / baby showers with a DIY styling kit. This was our first shoot with the styling of Little Precious, and we are sure there’s more to come!
