We first met Ching Raing and Kimberlee when we were photographing Ching Raing’s sister’s big day in 2012. What struck us about this lovely couple was Kimberlee’s sweet looks and Ching Raing’s amazing talent as he sang and dedicated a beautiful song (Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up) to his sister and brother-in-law. Alvin and I both wished at that point in time that we could capture their love story as well, as we knew that there should be something special about them too. You can’t imagine my delight when Kimberlee approached me on Facebook to capture awesome memories for her family!
Prior to the shoot, I had a great time discussing the shoot with Kimberlee and we were both getting more and more excited as the day grew closer as we had many exciting ideas! We planned for a shoot in August in part to also celebrate their anniversary. August was a special month for the couple as they had first met 15 years back at a National Day Parade.
It was a great morning on the day of the shoot with nice sunlight and we were all ready to capture the Toh family having a picnic at Botanic Gardens. We were pleasantly surprised at the boundless energy shown by the two boys, Landis and Landen, bearing in mind it was 8am in the morning! We started off with the boys first eating some biscuits so that they won’t be hungry during the shoot. Landen, the younger of the two, just couldn’t stop eating the biscuits and he finished the whole plate of biscuits almost all by himself!
Thereafter, papa Ching Raing whipped out his guitar and also a guitar each for his two boys. As he was serenading Kimberlee, Landen went off track and sang on his own. It was totally hilarious! Elder brother Landis didn’t want to lose out on the action as well and he gave his own rockstar pose!
All of a sudden, one hour into the shoot, the dark skies came and it started raining. We ran off to the nearest shelter, but nothing could stop us from taking more photos of them. The two boys’ numerous facial expressions were so funny and we had some awesome shots even in the shelter.
Finally, the rain stopped after about 30 minutes and thankfully, the sun came out as well. Time for the boys to go on a run with a colour wheel each and they were so excited! Papa and Mama joined them as well!
Landis has always been a caring older brother and little Landen is so blessed to be loved by him.
The shoot ended with some couple time between Ching Raing and Kimberlee, and they reminisced their dating days as we played their favourite song, Adam Sandler’s Grow Old With You, to ‘transport’ them back in time.
We really want to thank Ching Raing and Kimberlee for showing and sharing with us what is TRUE LOVE. We were deeply touched by their love story as they went through numerous ups and downs, and undeterred by anything in the world, just with the POWER of something very simple… And that amazing thing is called Love.
Cherish your loved ones. Capture your awesome memories. Connect with your future generations…
